Athletic coaches from Yale, Stanford, USC, Wake Forest, and Georgetown (among others) are also implicated, per the documents, as well as parents and exam administrators.

According to court records, Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, the creator of clothing brand Mossimo, "agreed to pay bribes totalling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team" even though they did not participate in crew.

Macy was in the Los Angeles courtroom late Tuesday afternoon when a judge ruled Huffman could be released on $250,000 bond. Prosecutors in the US attorney's office in Boston say his company, Edge College & Career Network, amassed $25 million through the fraud.

The comments have obviously been seen by the 19-year-old too, as she has turned off commenting on her recent pictures, causing people to take to older ones to voice their opinions.

None of the students involved were charged as many were not aware of the scam, authorities said.

Huffman is married to actor William H. Macy, though he is not named in the complaint.

One of the cooperating witnesses in the scheme was Rudy Meredith, the head coach of the women's soccer team at Yale.

Loughlin and Olivia Jade did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
