LeBron passes Jordan: NBA player reaction, shot chart and highlights

LeBron James has moved ahead of Michael Jordan for fourth on the NBA's all-time scoring list, and former Cavs teammates Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye congratulated him in a unique way.

The 34-year-old star passed Jordan with a layup in the second quarter of the Lakers' matchup with the Nuggets.

"Of all the stuff I've done in my career, this ranks right up there at the top with winning a championship", James said. "It's just insane, to be honest".

A few days earlier, James appeared in his 15th All-Star Game.

"It was very emotional".

After his 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in 42 minutes went to waste against the Clippers, James admitted that monitoring his playing time - if not resting completely - is a possibility moving forward.

"I always wanted to be like Michael Jordan", he admitted. Unfortunately for the Lakers, they still fell to the Nuggets 115-99.

Anytime you are able to surpass your idol it is a special moment and James even paid tribute to Jordan with a message on his shoes. I watched him from afar, wanted to be like MJ, wanted to shoot fadeaways like MJ, wanted to stick my tongue out on dunks like MJ, wanted to wear my sneakers like MJ.

"You have no idea".

James scored 7,919 of his points as a member of the Miami Heat, where he and Wade led the organization to four consecutive NBA Finals appearances, including two titles.

"It was like meeting Jesus. Except for me or him". "You suck. You owe me a bottle of wine".

James got emotional on the sideline after passing Jordan, but quickly had to get back to chipping away at a double-digit deficit.

The next target for James would be retired Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant, who is third on the National Basketball Association career list with 33,643 points. James now trails only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387 points), Karl Malone (36,928) and Kobe Bryant (33,643).

James might now have the edge in terms of points, but that does not mean he has yet matched Jordan's tallies in terms of field goals or free throws made.

"It was a pretty awesome moment", Lakers coach Luke Walton said. I think about being in downtown Cleveland the night they won, surrounded by every person that was important to me, a thing I'd daydreamed about ad-nauseam actually coming to life like I was living in a movie.
