The agency has issued a special weather statement as a result of a possible winter storm arriving Tuesday.

Forecasters continue to closely watch a developing storm system that could dump up to a foot of snow on areas of southeastern Minnesota Monday night and Tuesday. Eventually rising temperatures will cause snow to change to an icy mix (sleet and freezing rain) before transitioning to rain, the whole rain, and nothing but rain.

Not long after parts of the US was bombarded with severe winter storms, another low-pressure system is threatening to bring heavy snow and gale-force winds to midwestern parts of the nation.

Northern suburbs around and south of M-59 will get an even mixture of ice and snow Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Taliban 'not seeking to seize whole Afghanistan'
Nur said the talks, which stretched into late evening on Tuesday, will continue on Wednesday and possibly even on Thursday. Forces in Afghanistan has the rejected the Taliban claims, saying "Our mission hasn't changed".

The rest of the week could likely be wet as well, with a chance of rain Wednesday morning and more likely all day Friday and Saturday, according to the weather service. Highs Tuesday will be in the mid 30s. There could also be snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

"Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become hard to navigate due to accumulating snow", the advisory adds. "Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow". Wind impacts are not expected at this time, and ice impacts don't look thy will be that big a deal given the expected quick change from Snow to ice to rain.

Eventually, it'll switch over completely to just rain but that won't be until later Tuesday afternoon. A winter weather advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Freezing rain warnings may be issued as the system draws closer.
