Martial signs new long-term deal at Manchester United

Manchester United have confirmed that Anthony Martial has signed an extension to his contract with he club, tying him to Old Trafford until June 30, 2024.

"Martial has re-signed his contract, so there is a feel-good factor there - they are not losing any games and keeping the group together and they have their points to prove".

But the Frenchman has been an integral part of the side since Solskjaer replaced the sacked Mourinho in December.

Martial's best return for United was 17 goals in his opening season.

"Of course as a young lad moving overseas it's not easy, but now he knows he's going to stay here for the coming future and we believe in him". He seems to be getting better and better as time goes on. We have players like him and Marcus Rashford, they score worldie goals.

Man United heads to the King Power Stadium on Sunday and Solskjaer insists the French duo Pogba and Martial are set to play.

Speaking to the club's website about the deal, Solskjaer was effusive in his praise for the forward.

The France worldwide joined United back in 2015 from AS Monaco for a £36m ($47m) fee and he has since enhanced his reputation as one of the best young players in European football.

Under Solskjaer, Martial hasn't exactly been ripping up trees (he has scored two goals in seven games in all formats) but his performance have been generally impressive and led journalists to ask the interim United boss if the forward could emulate the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.

"The deal is confirmation that we are happy, with him, we believe in him, he's got fantastic potential".

However, according to The Sun, Solskjaer will be handed the full-time job if he manages to lead the team past PSG, with the first leg of their knockout-round tie due to take place at Old Trafford on February 12.

"As a young lad moving overseas it's not easy, but now he knows he's going to stay here for the coming future and we believe in him".

'I would imagine he would be available to be involved. "This is the ideal club for Anthony to progress his development as a top-class forward and we are all delighted he has signed a long-term deal".
