Toyota Land Cruiser gets nostalgic with Heritage Edition

The brand new Land Cruiser Heritage Edition can have its public debut on the 2019 Chicago Auto Show.

Offered only in two-row guise to "maximise cargo capacity", the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition can be specified in either Midnight Black Metallic or Blizzard Pearl paint. Its C-pillars bear special badges reminiscent of those Land Cruiser models wore all the way back in the 1960s.

To complement its purpose-built overlanding focus, the running boards and chrome lower body side moldings of the standard Land Cruiser are deleted, while darkened headlight housings, fog lights with dark chrome surrounds and side mirrors with darkened chrome details underscore the vehicle's sophisticated presence.

The seats are covered in black leather with bronze contrasting stitching also present on the steering wheel, door trim, center stack, and console.

While it sports no real mechanical upgrades over the already impressive standard Land Cruiser and its 381hp V8 and stout 4x4 system, it does have some nice aesthetic touches that set it apart from the crowd and earn appeal among the Land Cruiser faithful. There's also a set of all-weather floor mats and a cargo liner thrown in for good measure. Pricing will be announced closer to on-sale date. It works in combination with an 8-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission and a full-capability four-wheel drive with advanced chassis control.
