Sheriff Fitzgerald Updates Community On Closs Case

Police believe that when the suspect was stopped in his vehicle by police Thursday, he was out looking for Jayme. They said there is nothing to indicate that he knew or had contact with the family before the incident, and said they do not know how he came to fixate on Jayme.

Patterson is scheduled to appear in court Monday on two counts of first degree murder and a kidnapping charge.

A 13-year-old girl's escape from a rural home, where she was held captive for three months by a Wisconsin man charged with murdering her parents, helped break the case and she should be treated as a hero, the local sheriff says.

"I can tell you that the subject planned his actions and took many proactive steps to hide his identity from law enforcement and the general public", he said. But Fitzgerald said they never exhausted of looking for her.

On Thursday, after being missing for close to three months, Jayme approached a stranger near the small, isolated north woods town of Gordon, Wisconsin and pleaded for help.

Police said that Patterson had no contact with Jayme or her family before the murders but the primary motive was the abduction of the teenager.

"I'm lost and I don't know where I am, and I need help", Jayme told Nutter.

She said, 'I'm Jayme, ' the woman told CNN affiliate WCCO.

Jayme reportedly stayed at the home for about 20 minutes, declining food and water.

She vanished on October 15 after her parents - James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46, - were shot dead at their home in Barron County.

Authorities have said they believe Patterson went to the Closs home intending to kidnap Jayme.

Closs was found by police Thursday after she had been missing for the previous 88 days.

Investigators are working to establish a connection and don't believe Patterson and Jayme interacted on social media.

Saudi Arabia's embassy in Thailand has denied that its government is seeking her extradition, Reuters news agency reports. Late on Sunday, Ms Alqunun had warned: "My brothers and family and the Saudi embassy will be waiting for me in Kuwait.

Barron, a town of less than 3 square miles, has a population of about 3,300, according to US Census figures.

"The million-dollar question is why", Fitzgerald said Saturday.

While the young man worked at the same meat processing plant as Jayme´s parents almost three years ago, he did so for only one day and police said there is no evidence that there was any contact between them.

He has no criminal record, the sheriff said.

Patterson was in the county jail Friday and is keeping quiet after talking on the day of his arrest.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly used a shotgun, and have said Jayme witnessed the killings before being abducted.

Nutter knew of the girl's disappearance, which was reported nationally, and intensely so in the state.

Nutter then brought Jayme to the nearby front door of Kristin and Peter Kasinskas at around 4 p.m.

A fundraiser has been organized to raise money for Jayme Closs and her family.

A 21-year-old man killed a Wisconsin couple in a scheme to kidnap their teenage daughter, then held the girl captive for almost three months before she managed to escape and reach safety as he drove around looking for her, authorities said.

"I hope that she's in good shape", the Mayor said.

"I went to her and she just sort of grabbed onto me and she told me who she was".

Kasinskas said she taught Patterson science in middle school, but added: "I don't really remember a ton about him".
