Fox News’ Shepard Smith Relentlessly Fact Checks Donald Trump’s Border Wall Address!

On Tuesday night, President Donald Trump gave his first Oval Office address titled the "Address to the Nation on the Humanitarian and National Security Crisis on our Southern Border".

As he spoke, the partial government shutdown caused by the standoff over the wall entered its 18th day, while a caravan of an estimated 7,000 Central Americans who had marched through Mexico were camped on border waiting to enter the US.

President Trump is tapping into one of the powers of the presidency, a televised Oval Office address, for his first time.

"He asked [House] Speaker Pelosi, 'Will you agree to my wall?' she said no", Mr Schumer said.

"They don't build walls because they hate the people on the outside", Trump said. "I don't know what happened to that, but I guess it disappeared when the election was done", Kimmel said.

The fact is: the women and children at the border are not a security threat, they are a humanitarian challenge - a challenge that President Trump's own cruel and counterproductive policies have only deepened.

"And he just got up and said, 'Then we have nothing to discuss, ' and he just walked out".

The result ensured a seventh successive home series win for South Africa , who won the first Test in Centurion by six wickets. Sarfraz also lamented the lack of practice matches before heading in a tough away series against a team like South Africa .

"If the president, frustrated by Congress, could declare a national emergency and go around Congress, we would have seen this before", Napolitano explained. "That is sad and unfortunate". And in essence, the answer is, 'We want our wall.

Trump told reporters as he was leaving the Capitol that party is "totally unified" in its demands for border security. "We have different views".

During their speech, the two Democrats slammed Trump's alleged obsession with the "ineffective, unnecessary" wall he seeks to build along the US-Mexican border, and likening his actions related to the government shutdown to a "temper tantrum".

Wallace replied that it would but this would not be enough because the Democrats still won the House in the midterms with the border wall being Trump's main issue. The President and Vice-President Mike Pence will attend lunch with Republican senators as well.

Speaking shortly after the meeting, Pelosi and Schumer criticized Trump's behavior at the meeting. Due to Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's refusal to put the bill up to a vote during the new 116th Congress, the bill hasn't passed the Senate for a second time, dragging the shutdown to its current standstill. "He even brought a little candy for everybody", McCarthy said. "Call Congress and ask your representatives to fund the wall".

Trump said in his address that it is up to Democrats to "pass a spending bill that defends our borders and reopens the government".

Other "essential" employees are being required to report to work, but without pay for the time being. Napolitano noted that while Trump speech could urge the construction of a wall, "he can't change the law, and he can't avoid the Constitution".
