Kyler Murray has the Heisman, but Tua Tagovailoa has the last laugh. For the time being, his focus is directly on the college football playoff semifinal game on Saturday against the defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide.

Former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoop was inducted into the Orange Bowl Hall of Fame Saturday night ahead of the Sooners' game against Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

The high-scoring Sooners (12-2) reached the postseason despite a porous defense that was no match for Alabama's diverse attack, and the Crimson Tide led 28-0 after only 17 minutes.

"It's incredible. Obviously you just had back-to-back Heisman Trophy winners in two different guys".

Alabama and Clemson (14-0) will play for the national championship on January 7 in Santa Clara, Calif.

As usual - or three of the last five years - Clemson is the last team standing in Alabama's way of another historical mark: the first 15-0 season since Penn in 1897. The victory means the Crimson Tide will play the Tigers for the national title on January 7.

"He's got a very cool, calm demeanor about him and he's handled it extremely well", Gundy said. "We all understand the level of respect we have for each other", Tagovailoa said Wednesday. "We kind of just played our worst ball at the beginning". And then when you just watch it as a football player, you've just really got to sit back and watch it, try and think of how you're going to stop that, how you're going to sit there and keep him in the box, keep him contained. Just don't make them angry. But early in the second quarter, Notre Dame All-America cornerback Julian Love went out with what coach Brian Kelly said after the game was a head injury and Lawrence started taking apart the Irish secondary.

Trump tells boy that believing in Santa at 7 is 'marginal'
Despite the federal government shutdown, which took effect Saturday at the stroke of midnight, the tracker remains up and running. He also said he believes Trump's remarks have been "blown out of proportion and unfairly politicized", according to BuzzFeed .

Tagovailoa's performance argued for a Florida recount in the Heisman Trophy vote.

"It's always good to see your hard work pay off", said Tagovailoa, who played on a sore left ankle.

Alabama took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards for a touchdown.

Murray became the first player in almost five years to throw for at least 300 yards and rush for at least another 100 in a bowl game - the most recent to do that was Tajh Boyd, also in the Orange Bowl, for Clemson in its win over Ohio State on January 3, 2014.

With a clearing of his throat and an awkward stare, the Crimson Tide's leader on defense refrained from saying something that, clearly, he probably shouldn't have.

That's the edge from a coach who is on the cusp of passing Bear Bryant with a seventh national championship but is always demanding more from a four- and five-star roster that rarely fails to live up to expectations.
