Davis scored five straight points on a short fade as he was fouled and a pair of free throws to cut it to 93-87 with almost nine minutes to play. "It's going to be a Herschel Walker-type of deal to go get Davis". He has established himself as one of the best big men in the league that is a legitimate two-way player as he's coming off another All-Star Game selection and his first Defensive Player of the Year award.

Boston are supposedly on the list of teams he would consider joining, however the "Rose Rule" prevents the Celtics from essentially trading for Davis with Kyrie Irving on his current contract.

Irving raised a some eyebrows a few weeks ago when he did not mention Smart in a laundry list of players who needed to step up as leaders.

Smart, also known as the longest tenured Celtic on this roster, scored eight points on 3 of 8 shooting and logged five assists, two rebounds, a block and a steal in 40 minutes of play. Last week, Brad Stevens said, "I just don't know if we're that good". But lingering questions about Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball make the Celtics - who boast a wealth of future draft picks and a crop of talented young players led by Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier - the clear front-runner.

Flights were mostly on time Monday at Kansas City International Airport, one day after the storm caused widespread delays. The National Weather Service Quad Cities office posted a video of a weather balloon being released in a blizzard.

The Pelicans had circled Monday night as a bounce back.

"I think we all just started focusing on what we did two or three years ago, not anxious about who's getting the shots, just trying to lock in on the defensive end and move the ball".

"I mean there's a reason why we signed him back", said Irving. The Celtics acquired Irving via trade in August 2017, so they can not deal for Davis - or any other player that has signed such an extension - until Irving leaves or agrees to a new deal. "That's the only thing that matters right now".

The Celtics as a whole played pretty well on Monday night. "And when he's playing with me, we play pretty well together". Smart was the only member of Boston's starting five not to hit double digits in points, but his impact was elsewhere. At the same time New Orleans was struggling in a 124-107 home loss to the Boston Celtics.

But it's clear that for now, the Celtics need Marcus Smart, his defense, and most importantly, his energy, on the floor to start games.
