United face painful reality after 'draw as bad as a defeat'

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has again questioned his players' commitment after their 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

It was another lacklustre performance from Man Utd on Saturday as they drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with their visitors seeing the better of the chances.

The away win over Juventus in the Champions League, the comebacks against Newcastle United and Bournemouth, were encouraging, but we always come back to this sort of clueless, one-paced, one-dimensional display that makes United so bland and ordinary.

"I don't think it would have been acceptable at the start of the season, and certainly the start of last season, to say the top four is achievable, because he will have wanted to challenge for the title with the money that has been spent".

"We didn't have that intensity that in my opinion is basically related with your brain, with your heart. I think that's the word to describe it".

"We played a game like it was one more game and I don't think it was one more game".

"It was the first of eight Premier League games until the end of December and a game we needed to win, and it was not enough from the heart".

It is not the first time that Mourinho has criticised his players in public having clashed with several of his squad at United due to his comments to the media.

Macari said on MUTV: "There are a lot of players you like to think that they can step-up but can they?"

"I believe so. I have to believe so", the Portuguese said.

After losing to arch rivals Manchester City before the worldwide break, Jose Mourinho's team returned to action in forgettable fashion on Saturday.

"He was a courageous guy, probably punishing himself, who knows, for how long he will be out, but a fantastic example".

The ball then found its way to Alexis Sanchez, who made sure all of Rashford's good work counted for nothing as he passed the ball straight out of play.

Jose Mourinho has a gamut of top class forwards at his disposal at Old Trafford. "We could have got three with the chances we had".
