Gillum's campaign is now hedging on their candidate's Tuesday night concession of the race to DeSantis.

"We all learned in 2016 not to count on anything, not polls, not election integrity, not the electoral mood", Dawn Hucklebridge, 36, a friend of Gillum, said at his election night gathering as it became clear he would likely lose.

The campaign for Andrew Gillum announced Thursday it was bringing on Barry Richard, a lawyer who worked on the Florida recount in 2000, to handle operations for a possible statewide recount.

"Mayor Gillum started his campaign for the people, and we are committed to ensuring every single vote in Florida is counted", Johanna Cervone, his communications director, said in a statement Thursday. Bernie Sanders, Gillum mobilized his liberal base to face DeSantis, who made no bones about his close support for President Trump. "Whether it's an absentee vote, whether you voted on election day, whether it is a provisional ballot - we want every vote counted". Scott has accused him of trying to "steal" the election.

The Democrats won key governorships in a number of states, including Kansas, Maine, Wisconsin and MI.

A similarly racist round of calls went out in August in Florida, targeting Democratic candidate Andrew Gillum, who is black. The appearance was meant to boost the campaign of Matt Rosendale, the Republican state auditor challenging Democratic U.S.

This is a margin that could trigger a mandatory recount if it doesn't widen.

"Latest ballots dumped by #Broward &/or #PalmBeach...shaved another 4k+ from Scott's lead in Senate race", Mr. Rubio tweeted Thursday.

"I think even in conceding that this is such a close race that DeSantis has to hear that this is a state divided and that our voices still need to be heard", said Chris Lucas. Her rival, Republican Brian Kemp, won 50.4 percent of the vote to Abrams' 48.7 percent.

The race for governor is the state's most visible contest this year. Since the senate race crosses the threshold of the machine recount option, the political environment pretty much requires Detzner to conduct one - and as long as he's doing those two races, he may as well machine-recount the gubernatorial race, too.

Floridians have until 5 p.m. today to make sure any "provisional vote" they might have signed (due to mismatching signatures or IDs) is counted. Over votes are ballots in which scanners detected that voters marked more than one choice for Senate.

Unlike courting pre-election votes, campaign staff must now encourage those who have already voted - specifically those with previsional ballots - to go to their county's election supervisor and cure the issues that could have jeopardized their vote.

Holding his baby son in his arms, and with his two older children at his side, Gillum expressed satisfaction at a campaign he says was run with class and focused on the policy instead of nonsense.
