New PlayStation 4 Bug Reportedly Breaking Consoles

Apparently, a database rebuild is required to get the machines back up and running.

There is a new glitch that basically bricks your console and forces you to factory reset it.

Reddit user ThatPissedOffDude said: "This just happened to me during Rocket League". The bug, in some instances, has been used during matches to cause the opposing team to crash and be unable to complete a match. Some are having to factory reset their consoles, but some have been able to avoid doing that by installing the Sony PS4 Messaging app on their smartphone, and deleting the offending message using the app before they power their console on and sign into the PlayStation Network.

So maybe it's an idea to check in on your Privacy options and switch messages to "Friends Only" or "No-One" for now, until there is more information available about this story.

KitGuru Says: Given that this messaging bug harms the integrity of competitive multiplayer on the PS4, Sony will need to fix this as soon as possible.

You can do that by going to Account Management in your console Settings, heading to the Privacy Settings submenu, and changing Messaging settings to "Friends Only" or "No One", meaning that only your pre-selected friends or no one at all can message you. "Messages" and then Messages. It crashed my system until i rebuilt my system data through safe mode.
