Kavanaugh has also been accused of sexual misconduct by Deborah Ramirez, a woman with whom he went to college.

She is being represented by Michael Avenatti, who famously represented Stormy Daniels. Swetnick alleged that Kavanaugh and Judge were among the boys she saw "lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their "turn" with a girl inside the room", though it does not appear that Swetnick witnessed such an attack. Avenatti says that there are other corroborating witnesses, but they have not been made public at this time.

Mr Avenatti declined to expand on the allegation in an interview on ABC's The View, saying he would not add detail beyond what was in the statement.

In written testimony before the Senate hearing, Kavanaugh says he never had a "sexual or physical encounter of any kind" with Ford and had never done anything "remotely resembling" the conduct she describes.

In her affidavit, Swetnick says she met Kavanaugh at a house party and continued to see him at parties, which she said were a near-weekly occurrence during the school years of 1981 to 1983.

Swetnick, a resident of Washington, D.C., said she was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School in Maryland.

Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden of OR said Grassley's decision to go ahead with the hearing "sends a very powerful statement that women's voices in America really don't matter, that the evidence, the facts, all the things that may come to light tomorrow are secondary to just jamming this through".

She also claims he was verbally abusive toward women and that Judge, Kavanaugh, and others would spike drinks at these parties in order to cause women to "lose their inhibitions". "I am innocent of this charge".

Kavanaugh's lawyers admit that the calendar pages do not necessarily disprove the allegation, but are meant to "provide no corroboration for [Ford's] account of a small gathering at a house where he allegedly pinned her to a bed and tried to remove her clothing", as The New York Times has reported.

The committee also scheduled a vote on Kavanaugh's nomination for Friday at 9.30am (1330 GMT). She gave them a list of demands, but agreed to testify on Thursday. "I became the victim of one of these "gang" or "train" rapes where Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh were present".

He called allegations by three women that he acted inappropriately as a young man a "last-minute smear campaign".

"The Republicans could not be nicer, could not be more respectful to the process".

The lawyer said the information is important because it's believed there are discrepancies between Ford's story, her therapist's notes, and the lie detector test results.
