"For the benefit of all Australians, and for the benefit of democracy, call an election, Mr Morrison", wrote Ben J. on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) news website.

Morrison emerged as the surprise victor of Friday's party-room vote to replace Turnbull after a week of political chaos in Canberra that marked the emergence of Australia's sixth prime minister in less than 10 years.

West Australian MP Melissa Price will take on Environment, as Treasurer Josh Frydenberg's former role as Energy and Environment Minister is split, leaving prominent Dutton-backer Angus Taylor with the challenging Energy portfolio.

He has inherited leadership of a coalition between the Liberal and National parties whose one-seat majority will have to be defended when a by-election is held for a safe Sydney seat that Turnbull is set to vacate.

Morrison named Marise Payne to replace Julie Bishop as foreign minister and promoted Christopher Pyne to oversee defence.

Renowned for her steely gaze dubbed the "death stare", Bishop's highlights as foreign minister include her strong condemnation of Russia's role in the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines MH17 in 2014.

Mr Hadley read a text on-air during the leadership crisis he received from a "Liberal Party MP" but a slip-up led to speculation it was sent from Mr Dutton.

Yahoo7 News has contacted the former prime minister's office for comment.

"He was someone who above all else wanted to change policy, not change leader, and I am confident given the remarks of new Prime Minister Scott Morrison, given the ministerial appointments he's made, there will be better policy, a united party and a sharper difference with our opponents", he said.

Shock jocks Alan Jones and Ray Hadley have reopened communications with Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
