Bethenny Frankel's Boyfriend Dennis Shields Took Fatal Oxy Night Before Death

Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel's on-off boyfriend has been found dead.

Bethenny Frankel's "RHONY" co-stars - including frenemy Carole Radziwill - are rallying around her, following her boyfriend, Dennis Shield's, heartbreaking death on August 10.

Police told TMZ they received a call around 9 a.m.to check on an unresponsive man in an apartment in Trump Tower. The entrepreneur's assistant reportedly administered Narcan, an emergency treatment for narcotic overdoses, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

The medical examiner confirmed to Fox News that the man was Shields, its office is now investigating the cause of death and are awaiting an autopsy.

Before entering into a relationship following Frankel's contentious divorce from ex-husband Jason Hoppy, the two knew each other for almost 30 years. It is unclear where Frankel was at the time of Shields' death.

"We are all heartbroken", Shields' estranged wife, Jill Shields, said in a statement. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death although it appears to be an overdose, police said.

Dennis and Bethenny are thought to have been now not dating.

Shields, the CEO of litigation funding company LawCash, has long had a close and complex relationship with Frankel, who has a daughter, Bryn, 8, with her ex-husband Jason Hoppy.

"I've been with someone on and off for years", she shared.

A rep for Frankel did not immediately return Fox News' request for comment.

"I've been with someone on and off for years", she told Harvey.

She added that they were trying to be good teammates and partners, and she thinks that relationships are "a little bit like a business". If both people aren't happy about it but slightly uncomfortable and giving up something or giving in (to) something, it doesn't work.
