Luka Modric To Stay At Real Madrid, Confirms Manager Julen Lopetegui

Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui has attempted to end speculation over Luka Modric's future.

Kovacic has won one La Liga title and three Champions League crowns during his time at the Bernabeu.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Modric will inform Real president Florentino Perez that he wants to leave before the transfer window closes.

A Real Madrid star, who is apparently refusing to train with the first-team squad, is reportedly on the verge of joining Premier League outfit Chelsea in "the next few hours". Modrić is thought to favour a stay at the Bernabéu as long as the club give him a new contract to match Inter's offer.

The midfielder returned from his World Cup holiday on Monday and is now training with Real Madrid's youth team.

When asked about the contract, Freeland said the government "looks forward" to hearing from Riyadh about the future of the deal. Riyadh on Sunday recalled its ambassador from Canada and gave the Canadian ambassador to Saudi Arabia 24 hours to leave.

Since then, Chelsea have agreed a deal for Athletic Bilbao's Kepa, whose imminent move to Stamford Bridge is expected to see Thibaut Courtois move to Real Madrid.

As noted by Calciomercato, it's been claimed that the 32-year-old is keen on a switch to join Inter this summer as he seemingly eyes a new challenge.

Last month, Italy global striker Eder made such a move, swapping the Serie A club for Suning after two and a half seasons in Milan.

Real have endured a rocky summer, losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus and failing to land a 50-goal-a-season replacement.

Modric was also awarded the FIFA World Cup Golden Ball in 2018. Have your say in the comments section below.
