Elderly residents sneak leave nursing home to go to huge metal festival

Anxious staff at the German nursing home alerted the police after the pair vanished.

Huge crowds enjoy the Wacken Open Air heavy metal music festival.

Two old gentlemen have disappeared on Friday night from a nursing home in Dithmarschen community in northern Germany, Deutsche Welle reported.

A local officer, Merle Neufeld, said: "Both were disoriented and apathetic". It's unclear whether their original intent was to attend the festival.

Staff at the nursing home quickly raised the alarm, but police did not track down the truants until 3am at the heavy metal festival in Wacken, half an hour's drive away. The problem is, they leave them behind when they go. Among this year's scheduled performers: Walking Dead on Broadway, Judas Priest, Arch Enemy, Cannibal Corpse and Die from Sorrow.
