Outside the courthouse this morning, McGregor made the following statement, "I just want to say I'm thankful to the D.A. and the judge for allowing me to move forward".

He will also be required to fulfil five days of community service and, in exchange, will be cleared of criminal charges. He pled guilty to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.

One of McGregor's teammates from SBG Ireland, professional MMA fighter Cian Cowley, also was arrested in April for his involvement in the attack.

He is expected to return to UFC against current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

He was sentenced to 5 days of community service, ordered to pay for the damage he caused to the bus - and ordered to complete an anger management course.

This means that, once the community service aspect of the sentence has been satisfied, the MMA star will be able to resume a career with the UFC that has stalled since he became featherweight and lightweight champion at Madison Square Garden, in November 2016.

The UFC did not immediate respond to a request for comment. McGregor, however, did not lose the title, instead being stripped for inactivity in the aftermath of his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather previous year.

Last week, McGregor attended the World Cup final in Moscow as a guest of Russian President Vladimir Putin and posed with him in a photo posted on Instagram.

McGregor, who turned 30 earlier this month, also revealed that he and girlfriend Dee Devlin are expecting their second child.

An order of protection has been placed against Ray Borg, Jason Ledbetter and Michael Chiesa.

Video shows him at the Barclays Center tossing trash cans and trying to throw a barricade at a bus full of people including other fighters, back in April.

McGregor handed himself in to police soon after the incident.
