Special Counsel Robert Mueller Indicts 12 Russians for Hacking

That's the picture that the Justice Department painted in an indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers for allegedly hacking into Democratic computers - and stealing information from a state election board - during the 2016 USA presidential election.

The top Democrat in the Senate is calling on President Donald Trump to cancel his coming meeting with Russia's Vladimir Putin in the wake of new charges that 12 Russian intelligence officers hacked into Democratic email accounts during the 2016 USA presidential election.

The indictment stands as special counsel Robert Mueller's first allegation implicating the Russian government directly in criminal behaviour meant to sway the presidential election.

"Yet what Trump was publicly asking the Russians to find for were Clinton's deleted *personal* emails", wrote Vox political correspondent Andrew Prokop on Twitter.

The indictment was issued three days before Trump meets Russian President Vladimir Putin for a summit in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

Trump told reporters on his visit to the United Kingdom on Friday that he planned to "ask" Putin about Russia's attack on the election. "When we confront foreign interference in American elections, it is important for us to avoid thinking politically as Republicans or Democrats and instead to think patriotically as Americans".

If the Russian Federation probe is a "witch hunt", then Robert Mueller is a goddamn Ghostbuster.

The indictment charges that the conspirators "received a request for stolen materials from a candidate for the U.S. Congress", and "sent the candidate stolen documents".

George Clooney injured in motorbike accident
Clooney was traveling on a state road in Costa Corallina, a province of Olbia, when the crash occurred, Italy's TGCOM24 reported . Clooney was reportedly on his way to the set of a TV series he's directing based on the Joseph Heller classic "Catch-22".

In February, Mueller charged 13 Russians and three Russian companies in an elaborate conspiracy to interfere in the election.

John Podesta, the former chair of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign whose emails were among those hacked and leaked, welcomed the indictments as if they contradicted President Donald Trump's claims about a "witch hunt".

Guccifer 2.0, an online persona Trump ally Roger Stone interacted with during the 2016 campaign, was also named in the indictment.

The White House on Friday stressed that the 11-count, 29-page indictment said that no Americans knew they were communicating with Russians.

Hours before the Justice Department announcement, Mr Trump complained anew that the special counsel's investigation is complicating his efforts to forge a better working relationship with Russian Federation.

The information was then spread to "an unnamed organisation which was used a pass-through", Rosenstein said. Indeed, an indictment that directly points to Russian President Vladimir Putin makes it much more hard for critics to dismiss Russia's culpability in election hacking as unproven.

"We have been extremely tough on Russia", Trump said.

Glenn Kirschner said on CNN Friday that Mueller's work has proceeded in the standard fashion of RICO cases - which stands for the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Anything you do, it's always going to be, "Oh, Russia, he loves Russia". "But I love getting along with Russian Federation and China and other countries".
