Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-02) released the following statement Wednesday after the House voted on H.R. 6136, the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act of 2018.

President Donald Trump called for House Republicans to pass a moderate immigration bill on Wednesday, reversing course from last week when he said that lawmakers are "wasting their time" trying the pass the bill since it faces a slim chance in the Senate.

"That's why I don't get overly excited with the House bill right now because it's not going to pass in the Senate", he said. "Children brought back to their country." the president tweeted. It also would have provided a path to citizenship for beneficiaries of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and ensured that undocumented families caught trying to cross into the USA aren't separated. A separate conservative-backed immigration bill failed to pass the House last week, extending Congress's years-long failure to produce immigration legislation.

The bill that failed Wednesday was the result of months of negotiations between GOP moderates and conservatives in the House ― with Democrats left out of the process entirely. The Senate rejected three proposals in February, including one reflecting Trump's hardline policies and two bipartisan plans.

While Republicans called the measure a "compromise bill," the dealmaking occurred exclusively among members of the GOP.

"I don't like the fact that was raised as a possibility in some ways that would undermine our effort", Carlos Curbelo, a Florida Republican who represents a diverse district, said in reference to a more narrow bill. GOP leadership promised a vote on a compromise bill at a later date if they declined to sign a so-called "discharge petition". Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., one of the bill's sponsors - was the latest example of Trump's erratic dealings with Congress. Lawmakers voted 231-193 on that bill.

Strange Lump Moving Around Woman's Face Was A Parasitic Worm
Dogs and other carnivores are typically hosts of this parasite, but mosquitos can carry it to humans, according to the report. According to a report in the New England Journal of Medicine , the parasite was fixed with forceps and removed surgically.

In a startling turnabout earlier Wednesday, Trump made an all-caps pitch for the bill. "I think we are proving to ourselves that Republicans can not pass an immigration bill".

"This legislation also missed an opportunity to make needed reforms to our agricultural immigrant labor programs, make E-Verify law of the land, and address the vast worker shortage found in Pennsylvania and across the country". The opposition was from all Democrats and 112 Republicans.

The compromise bill also included language meant to prevent children from being separated from their parents when detained at the border.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a Washington state representative who is chairwoman of the Republican conference, plans to introduce a bill created to pass quickly and prevent immigrant families from being separated.

Faced with both domestic and worldwide outrage, Trump last week signed an executive order to halt the family separation practice, but made no specific provisions for those already split apart.

"We need to continue to be a beacon of hope and aspiration for the rest of the world", Rep. Adriano Espaillat, D-N.Y., said on the House floor before the vote.
