Roseanne says she was 'Ambien tweeting' when racist comment was made

President Donald Trump escalated a feud with ABC on Thursday in the wake of the cancellation of "Roseanne," tweeting at the chief executive of ABC's parent company.

"It's not a new thing, but it is disheartening that in 2018 we're still talking about people that are using that as the punch, right?" said Kelly Norman Ellis, a professor and department chair at Chicago State University.

Tom Arnold has mixed emotions about his ex-wife, Roseanne Barr, and the revival of her hit ABC sitcom, Roseanne, being canceled - but he says he knew the implosion was inevitable.

Barr replied, saying, "Sorry to have tweeted incorrect info about you!I Please forgive me!" "Hey guys, don't defend's sweet of you 2 try, but.losing my show is 0 compared 2 being labelled a racist over one tweet-that I regret even more", she wrote in a replacement tweet. "I'm just not married to one".

On Rosanne Barr's twitter feed, bringing back a sitcom starring a loose cannon known for firing off racist tweets, insane conspiracy theories and grabbing her crotch and spitting while butchering the National Anthem, made no sense. Her social media past includes a racist tweet about former national security adviser Susan Rice and support for conspiracy theories like "pizzagate". ABC canceled the show hours later on Tuesday.

US Gulf Coast braces for impact as Alberto approaches
Alberto is the first named storm of 2018, and it comes days before the Atlantic hurricane season officially starts on June 1. On Sunday, gusty showers began lashing parts of Florida, and authorities were warning of the possibility of flash flooding .

That "joke" caused ABC to cancel Barr's show in record time, leaving her out of a job before the close of business Tuesday.

In other tweets, Barr said that she was exhausted of "being attacked and belittled more than other comedians who have said worse" and asked for people not to boycott ABC, saying that the network has the right to "do what they wish".

Barr herself suggested on Twitter lately that she may try to take some action. Sanofi, the makers of Ambien, responded to say that "racism is not a known side effect".

Rocker Ted Nugent, who has sparked outrage with his own controversial comments on multiple occasions, tweeted, "So Roseanne referencing a movie title is racist". Barr's racist tweet and the nearly immediate axing of her show put hundreds of people out of work.

Roseanne fans disappointed by the sitcom's cancellation may find solace in the report that both Sara Gilbert and Michael Fishman are on the shortlist for Dancing With the Stars. And not because Barr lost her show - her politics are not that different from his - but because he's thinks that criticism of him is worse than what Barr wrote about Jarrett. Donald Trump Jr. retweeted two of Barr's statements about Soros, although not the remark about Jarrett.
