PUBG, an affiliate of South Korean studio Bluehole, is suing the Korean unit of North Carolina-based Epic Games, arguing that its smash hit Fortnite copies numerous characteristics of its own PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

The companies behind two of the world's most popular video games are squaring off in court.

PUBG confirmed it had applied for an injunction against Epic Games Korea in January. Based on the battle royale model, the game sees up to a hundred players fight to the last standing in an ever-shrinking and otherwise unpopulated map - and it's this model, based loosely on the book, manga, and live-action film franchise Battle Royale, of which PUBG seems to be claiming ownership. After it launched, "PUBG" publisher Bluehole said it was contemplating "further action" against Epic for "replicating the experience for which "PUBG" is known".

The Doc's now infamous tweet where he demanded PUBG add a skin for him or he would never play again gained a lot of attention since, and it looks like the game's developers have wasted no time in meeting his demands.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS devices, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
