AB de Villiers smashed 57 from 40 balls as Royal Challengers Bangalore claimed their first win of IPL 11 with a nervy four-wicket victory at home to Kings XI Punjab. They were wary of a possible Gaylestorm and KL Rahul blitz, but also confident of RCB's chances.

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals have each played two games, losing one and winning the other, and neither team has really clicked into gear yet. Further pacer Umesh Yadav slapped three wickets while Chris Woakes, Kulwant Khejroliya, and Washington Sundar took two wickets each.

Yuvraj Singh, who looked a pale shadow of his old self in the last match where he got 12 off 22 balls, would be keen to regain his touch. Quinton de Kock had played a handy knock earlier with a 34-ball 45 (7x4, 1x6). He has scored 222 runs off 219 balls against the slow bowlers, at a strike rate of 101.4 and a dot-ball percentage of 50.2. But Mandeep Singh was the next player to come to bat and he tapped the full toss back to the bowler, preventing Ashwin from getting a hat trick. Rahul, their standout performer with the bat again, did try to salvage the innings by forging a 58-run stand in 7.1 overs with Karun Nair (29) but once the former departed top-edging Washington Sundar (2/22), Kings XI's momentum took a permanent beating.

Skipper Virat Kohli, surprisingly, played second fiddle by scoring 31 off 33 balls, and he would like to have a better outing against KXIP.

What an over by Umesh Yadav three wickets in opne over, first Mayank Agarwal, then Aaron Finch and clean bowls Yuvraj Singh of the final delivery of the over. Both teams have two losses to their first two games and will be out for blood as they look to turn around their 2018 IPL campaigns. Going at ten-per-over for the first three and looking to build, Umesh Yadav stepped up to first have Agarwal caught-behind off a regulation edge that was sharply taken by Quinton de Kock.

Many people forget that both KL Rahul and Karun Nair play their domestic cricket for Karnataka and when the two of them were batting together against RCB, it felt unusual. Rahul's 30-ball 47 was studded with two fours and four sixes.
