(Web Desk) - Nobel Prize victor Malala Yousafzai and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Chairman Imran Khan are among the world's most admired people, according to an online survey conducted by YouGov UK.

Bill Gates and Angelina Jolie are the most admired man and woman in the world, our new 35-country study finds.

United States president Barack Obama, actor Jackie Chan and Chinese president Xi Jinping, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey along with actors Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone were among those featured on the list.

Football stalwarts Ronaldo and Messi have claimed the 10th and 11th spots respectively, surpassing Pope Francis at number 16 of the men's list.

The global market research and data analytics firm interviewed more than 37,000 people in 35 countries to compile the list.

Bill Gates and Angelina Jolie have made top of the list notably as they remain on top since 2015. The only country where Trump ranked higher than Obama was Russian Federation and by just one place.

Former President Barack Obama was named the second world's most admired man, followed by Jackie Chan.

Madonna is among the world's most admired women, according to YouGov's annual survey of the public figures the planet looks up to.

On the YouGov list of 20 most admired men in the United States, Obama comes in first, Trump second.

By contrast, the list of most admired men contains more people from political, business and sporting backgrounds.

Of the top 20 most admired women, 14 are entertainers. For instance, globally in 19 countries Obama was ranked 1, while Bill Gates only managed to take up the 6th spot.

The company said that the questions it used to come up with its rankings included "Who do you truly admire" and "Who do you most admire?"
